I created this work while I was in residence at GlogauAIR in Berlin, Germany during the winter of 2023. I engaged with the built-environment of Berlin through walks guided by memorials and commemorative plaques. I began mapping and tracking my movements as I walked through the city searching for Stolpersteine (stumbling stones). These commemorative plaques are placed in the cobblestones in front of the last residence of victims of Nazi persecution. The line generated by my movements becomes the first mark in my paintings.
